RAMALLAH, July 11, 2026 (WAFA) – On Saturday, President Mahmoud Abbas received a booklet from the Palestinian Police outlining an academic and vocational empowerment initiative for inmates in Palestinian correctional and rehabilitation facilities.

The booklet was presented during a meeting with Maj. Gen. Allam al-Saqqa, the Director-General of the Palestinian Police, which was also attended by Brig. Gen. Saleh al-Barghouti, the director of the Palestinian Correctional and Rehabilitation Centers.

Al-Saqqa stated that the program, designed in line with international standards, encompasses 16 academic and vocational pathways aimed at equipping inmates for their reintegration into society and facilitating their productive return.

He noted that this initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance the rule of law, protect the dignity of citizens, and improve the services offered by correctional and rehabilitation centers.

 President Abbas commended the leadership and staff of the Palestinian Police for their dedication and reiterated his support for initiatives that promote justice and rehabilitation.
